I have master's degree in counseling psychotherapy and have been practicing psychotherapy for over 16 years. Prior to private practice, I worked in a wide range of community mental health agencies.

Beyond my clinical practice, I have been on the national speaking stage with the likes of the (APA) American Psychological Association, National Lesbian Health Conferences, and locally presented advanced training for mental health professionals. Additionally, I have been published in trade journals and magazines. Whenever possible, I volunteer my mental health services to non-profits-via direct services and consultation.

I have found that therapy succeeds primarily because of the quality of the relationships I have with my clients; trust is paramount. However, I integrate different techniques to meet my client’s individual needs; not try and fit a client into a theory. I have been trained under both traditional and more modern progressive theories.

I typically lean on the following theories:

  • Control-Mastery
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Person-Centered
  • Psychodynamic
  • Structural Family Therapy
  • Play Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
